We're here to help make owning your own home less stressful and more enjoyable. To that end, we've assembled some information, advice and reminders that might come in handy to anyone who owns a home.
Information for Community Association Members
While each community or homeowners association has its own bylaws and regulations, there are some universal issues of which every association member should be aware:
Trash - Remove bins and containers promptly according to association rules and regulations. Try to give your neighbors the benefit of the doubt if they don't remove their's quite as quickly.
Bills - Mark payment due dates on the calendar and learn any important association fees. Paying your bill on time is good for you and your community
Improvements - Prior approval is often necessary for exterior changes such as storm doors, home color, plantings, etc. Check with the property manager or read your declaration before beginning a new project.
Exterior Conditions - Keep your property neat and clean to help maintain property values and improve the quality of life for everyone.
Safety - Keep your home and property well maintained so no one gets hurt. Know your responsibilities and the association's responsibilities and report safety hazards to the appropriate authority (often this is your property manager).
Leash Laws - Please curb your dog and follow the association's rules about pets.
Noise Levels - Please be courteous to your neighbors and keep noise levels to a minimum. If we all remember the golden rule, then following the community rules will be easy.
Complaints - If you treat your neighbors with respect, they will almost certainly return the favor. Should a dispute arise, try to behave in an adult manner and report the issue to the proper authority, often the property manager.
Crime - In a community we should all look after each other, so if you see or suspect that a crime has been committed, report it to the local police as soon as possible.
