Homeowner Seasonal Reminders

A little bit of timely care goes a long way towards protecting the big investment you have in your home. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

  • Wash windows/screens
  • Take down storm windows
  • Seal concrete and blacktop
  • Perform touch up painting
  • Check and replace exterior light bulbs
  • Check roof and exterior items (siding, decking, etc.) for wear
  • Service lawnmower, weedwacker, etc.
  • Have HVAC system inspected
  • Check batteries in smoke/carbon monoxide detectors

  • Examine exterior faucets for leaks and repair if needed
  • Water shrubbery (early morning or in the evening)
  • Reapply mulch to landscaped beds

  • Remove leaves and bag or curb as appropriate
  • Clean rain gutters
  • Check and repair fencing, if applicable
  • Have HVAC inspected
  • Check batteries in smoke/carbon monoxide detectors

  • Use only magnesium chloride or calcium chloride for ice melting
  • Place ice scrapers and other winter gear in cars

  • Prune vegetation once dormant
